Are there any computer requirements?
In order to
successfully participate in the program it's necessary that
each student has access to:
- A a computer with working speakers and microphone — a laptop or desktop computer is fine!
- A following minimum configurations: CPU:64-bit x86 Intel or AMD Processor from 2011, or later, with full virtualization support with minimum 2GHz or faster core speed.
- To make the most of your Live Online experience, we also recommend:
- A working web cam (it doesn’t have to be the greatest quality)!
- A comfortable desk and chair Noise-cancelling headphones
- A positive attitude!

Only students who are registered in a co-op program and meet the co-op eligibility criteria as stated on their program map can

What are the benefits of being in a co-op program?
There are many benefits to being a co-op student. The most important being the hands-on, industry related experience you gain during your
co-op term. The experience you gain may help you secure a job or develop important contacts in your profession.

Will my co-op be paid?
Co-op work can either be paid (at least minimum wage for Ontario which is $15.50/hour to increase to $16.55 an hour on October 1, 2023) or
unpaid, commission-based, or otherwise. This ultimately depends on employers' preferences, student's preferences, the career field, and on the job market supply and demand conditions which exist, including specific provincial regulations. We encourage students to approach co-op work as a learning experience and an opportunity to network.

Will the school help me find a co-op?
Powered by ISEMPOWER-job search platform- our Career Services will provide full support to students from helping them create their CV to preparing them for an interview. Using YorkC + ISEMPOWER platform our students will be able to showcase their profile and get invited to top internships, part-time, and full-time jobs from employers nationwide. Student's are responsible to perform well during interviews as well as the full length of a co-op program.
I've heard about YorkC's 4 day study week-are there classes on Fridays?
There are no instructor-led classes on Fridays.
Fridays are self-directed days, meaning that we ask that all Full-Time students dedicate Fridays to practicing critical independent work skills such as reviewing class notes, working on projects, or prepping for the week ahead. This ensures that students can wrap up every week of class confidently.
