Terms & Conditions of Enrolment

By completing the enrolment process and accessing course materials, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms in full.

1. ABOUT YORK COLLEGE OF APPLIED STUDIES
York College of Applied Studies is a registered Career College and a Designated Learning Institution (DLI No. O275157104632) recognized by the Government of Canada to enrol international students. York College is registered in Ontario and operates in compliance with applicable provincial and federal laws governing education and student services.

2. PROGRAMS & DELIVERY FORMAT
York College offers non-vocational certificate programs delivered entirely online in a self-paced format. There are no scheduled class times, live sessions, or in-person attendance requirements. Students may complete course materials on their own schedule within the program access period confirmed at enrolment.
* The Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 does not apply to the program.
Because these programs are non-vocational and not subject to the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005, the student protections and consumer remedies available under that legislation — including access to the Student Protection Fund — do not apply. Students are encouraged to review these Terms carefully before enrolling.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Students are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary equipment and internet access to participate in online programs. The following minimum technical requirements apply:
-> Device: A desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone running a current operating system (Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android)
-> Browser: A current version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Edge (Internet Explorer is not supported)
-> Internet Connection: A stable broadband connection with a minimum speed of 5 Mbps for uninterrupted access to video content and course materials
-> Audio: Speakers or headphones to access audio and video course content
-> Software: A PDF reader (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader) for accessing downloadable course materials and resources
-> Email Address: A valid email address is required to receive login credentials, course updates, and your certificate of completion
York College does not provide technical support for personal devices or internet connectivity issues. Students requiring accessibility accommodations are encouraged to contact admissions@yorkc.ca prior to enrolment.

3. ENROLMENT & ELIGIBILITY
By completing checkout and creating an account, you represent and warrant that:
-> All information you provide during registration is accurate and truthful.
-> You are at least 18 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or guardian.
-> You have the legal authority to enter into this agreement and make payment.
-> You will keep your account information current and up to date.
York College reserves the right to deny or cancel enrolment at its discretion, including where misrepresentation is identified or where a student poses a risk to the learning environment.

4. FEES & PAYMENT
Program fees are listed at checkout and are due in full at the time of enrolment. York College accepts the following payment methods:
-> Credit card and debit card via the secure online checkout portal.
-> E-transfer: Send to admissions@ontarioskillsinstitute.ca — include your full name and program name in the message field.
-> Other arrangements: Contact admissions@ontarioskillsinstitute.ca prior to enrolment.
A payment receipt will be emailed to the address provided at checkout upon confirmation of your enrolment. All fees are listed and charged in Canadian dollars (CAD).
York College reserves the right to update program fees at any time. Any change in fees will not affect orders already completed and confirmed.

5. REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY
York College's refund policy for online self-paced programs is as follows:
-> Refund requests must be submitted in writing to admissions@yorkc.ca within twenty-four (24) hours of the course start date.
-> A $150 administration fee will be retained by York College on all approved refunds.
-> No refund will be issued after twenty-four (24) hours from the course start date, regardless of course progress.
-> No refund will be issued once a student has earned a certificate or submitted any graded coursework, even if the 24-hour window has not yet elapsed.
-> Enrolment is transferable to an alternate intake at no additional charge, subject to availability. Transfer requests must be submitted in writing before the course end date.
To request a refund, email admissions@ontarioskillsinstitute.ca with your full name, program name, and date of enrolment. Approved refunds will be processed within 10 business days.
York College reserves the right to cancel a program or intake due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, students will receive a full refund of fees paid.

6. PROGRAM ACCESS & COMPLETION
Upon confirmed enrolment and payment, students will receive access to course materials through the York College LearnWorlds platform. Access will be provided to the email address provided at checkout.
Students who successfully complete all required course activities and assessments will receive a Certificate of Completion issued by York College of Applied Studies. Certificates are issued digitally and will be emailed to the address on file.
York College does not guarantee employment, professional licensure, or certification as a result of completing any program. Programs are designed for personal and professional development purposes.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All course content, materials, videos, assessments, and resources made available through the York College platform are the intellectual property of York College of Applied Studies or its licensed content providers and are protected by Canadian copyright law.
Students may not reproduce, distribute, share, resell, or otherwise use York College content for any commercial purpose without prior written consent from York College.

8. ACCEPTABLE USE
By accessing the York College platform, you agree not to:
-> Share your account credentials or allow others to access your account.
-> Engage in academic dishonesty, including misrepresenting your identity for assessments.
-> Post, upload, or transmit content that is unlawful, offensive, defamatory, or harassing.
-> Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or disrupt the platform or its infrastructure.
-> Use the platform for unauthorized commercial purposes.
York College reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without refund.

9. PRIVACY & PERSONAL INFORMATION
York College collects, uses, and protects personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy legislation.
Personal information collected at enrolment — including name, email, address, and payment details — is used to:
-> Process and confirm your enrolment.
-> Deliver course access and student support.
-> Issue certificates and maintain academic records.
-> Communicate program updates, institutional news, and relevant offers (with your consent).
York College will not sell or share your personal information with third parties except as required to deliver services (e.g., payment processing) or as required by law.

10. REGULATORY NOTICE
*** The Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 does not apply to the program. ***
York College of Applied Studies offers vocational and non-vocational programs. Non vocational programs (programs that are 40 hours or shorter in duration) are not subject to approval or oversight under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005. Accordingly, programs offered by York College are not approved by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, and students are not entitled to protections or remedies available under that Act.
Students who have questions about this designation are encouraged to contact admissions@ontarioskillsinstitute.ca prior to enrolment.

11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, York College of Applied Studies shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, any program or the platform, even if York College has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
York College makes no warranty that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. Students are advised to maintain up-to-date antivirus software on their personal devices.

12. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
York College reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be posted at www.yorkc.ca/terms and will take effect immediately upon posting. Continued use of the platform following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Material changes to refund or cancellation policies will be communicated to enrolled students by email with reasonable notice.

13. GOVERNING LAW & JURISDICTION
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.

14. COMPLAINTS & DISPUTE RESOLUTION
York College of Applied Studies is committed to resolving student concerns in a fair and timely manner. If you have a complaint, please follow these steps:
-> Step 1 — Submit your complaint in writing to admissions@yorkc.ca. Please include your full name, program name, date of enrolment, and a clear description of the issue.
-> Step 2 — York College will acknowledge your complaint within 3 business days and aim to provide a written response within 10 business days.
-> Step 3 — If the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may seek remedy through the applicable courts of Ontario.
York College will not penalize any student for submitting a good-faith complaint.

15. FORCE MAJEURE
York College shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the delivery of programs or services caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, epidemics, public health emergencies, fire, flood, severe weather, war, acts of terrorism, civil unrest, government orders or restrictions, internet or platform outages, or any other event that makes delivery of the program impossible or impractical.
In the event of a force majeure, York College will make reasonable efforts to resume the affected program as soon as practicable and will communicate with enrolled students regarding any changes to program delivery, timelines, or access. Where a program cannot be resumed within a reasonable period, York College will work with the student to arrange a suitable alternative, including access to a future intake, or, where applicable, a prorated refund of fees paid.
York College's obligations under these Terms are suspended for the duration of any force majeure event.
