Sourcing & Vendor Management Certificate program

What You’ll Learn

The Sourcing & Vendor Management Certificate is a 40-hour online program built for the procurement, vendor management, and BPO operations roles employers are filling right now. Whether you're already coordinating vendors and want to formalise your skills, or moving into procurement for the first time, this certificate gives you the practical foundation that hiring managers expect.

You'll develop working knowledge of strategic sourcing, vendor selection and evaluation, Statement of Work (SOW) writing, contract fundamentals, performance metrics, vendor risk management, and Vendor Management Office (VMO) operations — the core competencies that show up in real job descriptions across procurement and supplier management.

Graduates apply to roles where these skills are in demand: vendor management analyst, procurement coordinator, supplier relationship manager, sourcing specialist, BPO operations analyst, contract administrator, and category analyst — across corporate procurement teams, BPO providers, and vendor management offices. The certificate also stacks toward York College’s Business Administration & Management Diploma and our Bachelor of Commerce pathway with International Business University (IBU).

Is This For You?

This program is designed for:

You're working in operations, finance, or admin and already touching vendors — you want the credential to match
You want to break into procurement or vendor management and need a recognised starting point
You're an internationally trained professional looking for Canadian-recognised procurement credentials
You're returning to the workforce or pivoting from a related field and want a fast, structured re-entry

No procurement background required. This program is designed for newcomers to the field as well as experienced professionals seeking formal credentials. If you're organised, comfortable with structured processes, and ready to learn how procurement actually runs day-to-day, you're ready to begin.

  • Get the credential that turns your vendor coordination experience into a recognised procurement role
  • Formalise the sourcing, contract, and vendor management work you already do informally
  • Move from operations or admin into Vendor Management Analyst or Procurement Coordinator positions

As someone entering this field for the first time, this program helps you:

  • Get your first paid role in procurement, vendor management, or BPO operations
  • Build foundational skills in sourcing, vendor evaluation, SOW writing, and contract basics
  • Feel confident applying to procurement roles even without direct industry experience

As someone exploring whether this field is right for you, this program helps you:

  • Understand how procurement and vendor management actually work before bigger commitments
  • Explore the field in 6 weeks at $895 — a low-risk way to test fit
  • Keep your options open: this certificate stacks toward our Business Administration Diploma and B.Comm pathway

Why This Program

Built for professionals ready to source, evaluate, contract — and manage vendor relationships that work.

Procurement and vendor management sit at the centre of how modern organisations run. Whether you're working inside a corporate procurement team, a Vendor Management Office, a BPO provider, or a fast-growing operations group — the ability to evaluate vendors, write clear SOWs, manage contracts, and track vendor performance is what employers look for in every hiring decision. This certificate teaches those exact skills the way they're used in the field, not the way they're taught in textbooks.

Use structured methodologies to identify, evaluate, and select the right vendors for any need.

Write clear, defensible SOWs

Build Statements of Work that protect both buyer and vendor and prevent scope creep.

Manage contracts with confidence

Can I get funding to cover the cost of this program?
Yes — several options exist. The most common is Better Jobs Ontario, a provincial grant covering up to $28,000 for short-term training (including micro-credentials). Other options include the Canada Training Credit, employer sponsorship, and our flexible payment plans. Read our full guide to funding career training in Ontario →
